Alice’s Story
In 1977, at 24, I boarded a plane to Europe filled with fear, prompting me to pray fervently for guidance and strength as I began a new chapter in my life. My prayers led me to a teaching position at a German governmental institution, where I taught Swahili to German experts. Despite having no teaching materials or experience, I worked hard to create lessons and ultimately compiled them into my first book, “Swahili for Foreigners.” Through this process, I discovered my talents as both a teacher and an author, despite initially disliking teaching. My knowledge of English and German helped me understand the challenges foreign learners face, allowing me to support my students effectively. Living in Germany deepened my appreciation for my Kenyan heritage, making me proud of my roots. All glory goes to Christ for guiding me on this journey.
