In 1977, at 24, I boarded a plane to Europe filled with fear, prompting me to pray fervently for guidance and strength as I embarked on a new chapter. My prayers led me to a teaching position in Germany, where I overcame challenges to create “Swahili for Foreigners,” discovering my talents as both a teacher and author, and fostering a deep pride in my Kenyan heritage.
